In private revelations to St. Gemma Galgani, our Lord revealed: “What correspondence do I ever find in My creatures whom I have loved so much? No one any longer cares for My Heart and for My Love. I am forgotten as though I had never suffered for them. My Heart is always in sadness; I am left almost alone in My Churches; if many assemble there it is for other motives than worship and I have to suffer the pain of seeing My House become a theatre of amusement. Many through hypocrisy betray Me by sacrilegious Communions. I can bear no more.”
In the 1965 encyclical, Investigabiles Divitias Christi (The Unfathomable Riches of Christ), Pope Paul VI wrote: “This, therefore, seems to us to be the most suitable ideal: that devotion to the Sacred Heart which, we say it sadly, has declined somewhat in some, now reflourish daily more and more, and be esteemed by all as an excellent and acceptable form of true piety, which, in our times, especially because of the norms laid down in the Second Vatican Council, is strongly called for toward Christ Jesus, the king and centre of all hearts…..We especially desire….that through a more intense participation in the august Sacrament of the altar, a greater devotion be given to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose outstanding gift is the Eucharist.”
Jesus revealed His Sacred Heart to us with a burning love for mankind and He continues to invite us to follow Him. His love for us compels us to love of our neighbour as we conform ourselves to His Sacred Heart and become one with Him.
In answer to His call, Laura, who blogs at Catholic Cravings and Ryan, who blogs at The Back of the World, have started a blogging ministry to spread devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Every First Friday, they are hosting a link-up of Sacred Heart – related blog posts. Go on over to O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and enjoy everyone’s contributions.
